My song of this week is a cover from ‘Puttin’ On The Ritz’, a song written 1929 by Irving Berlin. It was introduced by Harry Richman in the musical film ‘Puttin’ On the Ritz”. “to put on the Ritz”, meaning to dress very fashionably. This expression was inspired by the Ritz Hotel in London. The song was also covered by several artists, e.g. it was feature 1974 in Mel Brooks horror comedy ‘Young Frankenstein’. The song received renewed popularity in 1982 by the Dutch musician Taco which was aired on MTV and other TV channels.
